Jez Green and MCTA Player Stefi BoffaWhat have I let myself in for…

I am currently in Florida for two weeks doing a training block with Jez Green and Anna Fitzpatrick, although Anna is recovering from a stress fracture in her foot.

It is my first real taste of one of Jez’s training blocks so I don’t really know what to expect, even though Anna and the other players have told me that it is obviously not the most pleasant thing to do.

In these two weeks I will try to keep you updated on how my body is coping with it and how much Jez is torturing me!

Today was my second day and yesterday I had a horrible session, which was a real struggle because the day before I had travelled to the US for ten hours.

Jez put me on the treadmill but after the first three minutes I had to stop and sprint to the toilet, I just felt so bad.

Somehow I managed to finish the exercise with one more break. I then did some upper body weight lifting and that was it for the first day.

Jez Green Blog: Greetings from Abu Dhabi Print E-mail

Jez GreenGreetings from Abu Dhabi…and I do say that completely tongue in cheek as I actually should be in Dubai but thick fog has caused us to be re-routed! We’ve also just been informed that we are going to be on this plane for 2 hours before we can resume our journey so its blog time. Its OK though as it was only a 14 hour flight from Melbourne so what’s another 2 hours between friends at completely the wrong airport.

Actually I was in Abu Dhabi only a few weeks ago for an exhibition where Andy managed to beat Federer and Nadal. Not a bad start to the year and matched only by the hotel that we stayed in that week….well I say hotel but if I say that the place was actually called The Emirates Palace that would give a better indication of the grandeur of this establishment. I have never seen anything like this before, all marble and gold and the rooms were the size of penthouse apartments. It took exactly 9 minutes to get from my room to breakfast and I almost bought a GPS system to navigate the different wings. The sheer opulence was astounding. Shakira was staying there as well and on new years eve all the players went to see her concert which was a nice way to see in 2009. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to bump into each other but I did hear she was looking for me… or maybe it was the other way round!

Hi all,

A long time between drinks (or blogs in this case) so I better fill you all in on my new role. I started a job with Prince a couple of months ago managing a number of the larger states sales operations here in Australia. It is certainly a challenging role but one that I am thoroughly enjoying and has given me a great insight into what goes on on the other side of the fence.

Things are busy here in Melbourne with the Australian Open. Yet again it has thrown a number of surprises at us as it seems to do each year. Jelena Dokic has won the hearts of all the public here with her seemingly genuine outpour of emotion over her past decisions under the influence of her father. It is truly a great story and she is displaying a brand of tennis which should she continue I am sure will get her back into the top 20 by the end of the year.

Wes Moodie: Austlalian Open Blog 3 Print E-mail

Wes MoodieWow, how a few short days can change things dramatically….Murray and Djokovic out. I had heard rumours that Murray had been battling with flu before his match, but didn’t see Jez (his trainer) to confirm. Andy did indeed look tired so if he had been sick then good on him for sticking it out and fighting to the bitter end – if he wasn’t sick then it obviously wasn’t his best performance but I’m sure through these losses he is inching his was forward to a Grand Slam victory but not in Aus ’09.

As for Djokovic – it’s quite a retirement record he is building up. I’d like to think he was so sick he really couldn’t carry on – I always imagined myself being taken off on a stretcher in the quarter finals of a Grand Slam kicking and screaming and asking for one more chance. (“Just a flesh wound” – for those of you who know anything about Monty Python).

Wes MoodieWell, things didnt go too well today for me unfortunately. Ive been reduced to a mixed doubles specialist. I kind of feel like Ivanisevic did when he said "I am going to win a Wimbledon title - even if it's over 45's in the mixed event." Well, on the bright side - at least Im in the OPEN mixed event. Playing mixed doubles after losing a (mostly) poor attempt at a doubles match is a little bit like playing in the back draw in juniors. You don't really want to play because you still want to be part of the main draw but at the same time you know you have to play. Anyway, I played with Patty Schnyder and we had a good time out there. It was definitely better than the back draw! The full show court also helped....
