Hi all,

Well, not the most ideal start to the year, but still a long way to go on this particular trip and the pair of us continue to keep our heads up and keep working hard.

Ilija qualified and lost first round in Traralgon to Goran Rozic, a Croatian player ranked 70 in the world. It certainly wasn’t Ilija’s strongest performance, but nevertheless he was unable to capitalize on a 76 20 lead, and eventually went down in three sets. He also lost in the first round of doubles meaning that the two of us are now back in Melbourne training hard for next week’s tournament, a Grade 1 in Nottinghill.

Happy 2007,

I certainly hoped you all had a fantastic Christmas and celebrated the New Year in style! After a long stint in the States together we all parted company on the 17th December at Miami airport. Dave, Anna and Oscar flew back to the UK, Ilija to Serbia and for me it was time to face the seemingly endless journey back to Australia.

Heat, Rain and Results in Miami

Well we are into the home stretch with 2 tournaments to go. I’m eager for us to drive hard to the very end with a good showing in both tournaments. The latest news from us is that the weather is on off rain yet still warm. The players went to the Miami Heat vs Toronto Raptors with Hampo and Jez on Monday and then myself, Hampo and Jez went as guests last night of a friend.

The site for this tournament is the famed Nick Bolletieri Academy now owned by IMG. It is a massive complex with a lot of players and is a bit of a zoo the first few days. The advert for the Academy is the fact that this week alone Sharapova, Haas, Navratilova and past great Ivan Llendl were all floating around. Sharapova and Haas were doing off season physical workouts only whilst Vaidasova was working on her game.

Cycling Up Five Mountains!

Hi all,

Well I’m happy to report that the players made it through the training week and the girls even had a day off today to rest their aching limbs (and minds). The guys have the pre-qualifying for the Delray Beach tour event over the weekend and so far in their first three rounds no one has lost so that is a great start. Up for grabs for the winner of the tournament is a wildcard for qualifying into the prestigious tour event that has been played by Agassi, Roddick, Blake and Haas to name but a few so is a great opportunity to earn the right to be around some of the top players. Only 3 rounds more to go so I will keep you posted.
