MCTA Player Christina Mathis played her first ITF junior event of the year in Stockholm under the watchful eyes of MCTA Touring Academy coach Jim Edgar. Although she did not play as well as she would have liked, Christina was still able to reach the quarter finals of the singles and finals of the doubles, which will begin her climb up the ITF junior rankings.

MCTA have set a target of world top 50 by year end, so that she will be in a position to play all the Grand Slam junior events in 2010. Jim Edgar had this to say about Christina's overall singles performance "Practice has been going well. Christina works very hard and is learning quickly but was unable to feel as comfortable on the ball during matches. The good news is if she can win playing this badly she will be tough when she starts putting it together! She showed improvement in the doubles and we are beginning her second tournament today with confidence that she will bring this form into her first match."
