MCTA was started in Monte Carlo by David Sammel and Vin Hillsdon in 2006. In October 2007 Vin withdrew to pursue other interests and MCTA became a UK company and a year later was restructured into three clear divisions known as the MCTA Group: Media - Consultancy - Touring Academy


In 2010, the MCTA joined forces with TeamBath IHPC with the aim or producing a world class tennis programme for both junior and senior international players

 


David Sammel
Managing Director

David helped found the MCTA in 2006. He has vast experience in coaching international players, many of whom have represented Great Britain and South Africa in Davis Cup and Olympics. During his 20 years coaching he has attended most tournaments in the world from junior International level to all the Grand Slams. Between 1988 and 2002 he travelled the tour before taking on the Head Coach responsibilities for an LTA National Academy until September 2006, developing top British tennis talent such as Anna Fitzpatrick during this period. His expertise in mental skills has led to consultancy work with three premiership football clubs and numerous coach education presentations.

 


Barry Scollo
Director of Tennis - TeamBath

Barry became Director of Tennis at TeamBath in September 07. During this time, his vision has transformed the TeamBath Tennis Programme from a High Performance Centre to an International accredited programme. In collaboration with Dave, Barry saw an opportunity of combining the MCTA and TeamBath resources to strengthen the junior programme and form an elite touring team operating from the Bath base. Barry competed on the Junior ITF and Senior ATP Tour before studying a Coach Education and Masters degree at Bath University. Barry has worked with some of Britain’s leading junior players and in 2009 his coaching accomplishments were recognised by the LTA who awarded him 2009 Coach of the Year.


Pete Martin
Operations Manager

Pete is the Tennis Operations Manager for the TeamBath MCTA Tennis Academy and Touring Team. He has worked in tennis for the last six years and has a wide range of responsibilities connected to the tennis programmes operating at Bath. Pete’s main focus is managing the administration, education, accommodation, logistics and travel arrangements for the Academy and Touring Team Players and Coaches. Pete is passionate about the development of junior athletes and providing holistic opportunities for them to realise their potential.


Sara Scollo
Marketing and Sponsorship

Sara works on the sponsorship and commercial opportunities for the TeamBath MCTA Tennis Team. Prior to this, she spent three years working for a Sports Event company who managed some of the UK’s leading mass participation sporting events. Sara has a strong tennis background, having competed on the Junior ITF Grand Slam circuit before going on to study a Sport and Exercise Science Degree and MSc in Business Management at the University of Bath.


Mike Frey
Marketing Director

Mike has been in media for nearly 25 years. Recently he set up a UK division of Advantage Publishing, his Australian company and established a successful consultancy business for both digital and traditional media. The consultancy flourished and in March 2007, a contract publishing division was launched with the LTA’s Ace Magazine and British Tennis being the first two titles. The company has launched its first significant sports web portal for the tennis market.

 


Barry Cowan
MCTA Ambassador

Best known for taking Pete Sampras to five sets in the 2001 Wimbledon Championships, Cowan now works as commentator and analyst for Sky Sports. As an Ambassador Cowan will work to build and promote the MCTA brand through his extensive contacts in tennis whilst passing on his experience and expertise to MCTA players through analysis and coaching.

 

 


Nikolaos Zinas
Multimedia and IT Manager

Nikolaos Zinas, or “Nikos” as he prefers to be known is in charge of has a wide range of responsibilities, such as website creation and maintenance, multimedia implementation and technical IT expertise for the MCTA Group. In addition to the MCTA Group Nikos is an Internet Marketing Consultant and works with clients on both online marketing and web design projects through his company.
